2nd Day at Greenery Resort April 10, 2006

Posted by Martin in : Thailand , trackback

Tik was up early to take her family to Khao Yai’s vast national park. Mark and Raquel also wanted to visit there although there were sleeping at the time Tik left. We got ample opportunity to use the resort’s swimming pool today. Thankfully we also had some time to collapse in bed for a few hours which was much appreciated after such a busy week. When Tik and I awoke we dropped off Mark and Raquel at the park so they could explore it together on foot. We collected them just before 7pm and rented a truck, driver and guide to take us on a 1-hour night-safari.

Khao Yai National Park covers three provinces and contains much of Thailand’s wildlife including wild elephants and tigers. During our drive to the base in the park we passed monkey and a few deer. For the one hour safari we got to see many more deer, an owl, some raccoons and, although we weren’t lucky enough to see wild elephants we saw enough elephant shit to assure us that we came close.
