Back to Dreamworld with Tiks Sisters October 22, 2005
Posted by Martin in : Thailand , trackbackI was lucky enough to have a day spent with Tik and both her sisters last week. Tik is the oldest of the three with Toon being about my age and Nong Mai reaching her 21st birthday last Saturday.
P’ Toon was in Bangkok for a few days in order for her to take an accountancy exam. She spent one night with us in our house and returned to Khon Kaen the following night. Nong Mai is very much the black sheep of the family. She spends nearly all of her life playing online computer games and has carved herself a quite interesting paid lifestyle from it.
Whilst I’m sure her choice of career is probably not what every parent dreams of she is doing remarkably well. She was in Bangkok to participate as part of her team in a big Seal Online competition.
Of the two sisters Nong Mai is certainly the most bubbly. Her delightfully squeaky voice makes her sound much like a cartoon character. Nong Mai has invested about 150 hours in learning English and her personality is so relaxed that it’s been very comfortable for me to get on with her. It has been great practicing my Thai with her, and for her to practice English with me.
We spent Nong Mai’s birthday at Dreamworld, almost 8 months to the day since Tik and I had our first date there. She has since stayed here with me and will leave with Tik this coming Thursday.
