Speech Recognit… Recognit… Recogmushroom June 15, 2006

I wasted an hour today installing ‘iListen’ on my computer. This was my first experience of voice recognition software and considering the technology is about 10 years old now and that computers have gotten much more powerful I was really excited to try it out.
After a pointless hour trying to get the damn program to correctly hear the words ‘The’ and ‘I’ I was informed that everything was configured perfectly.

Here’s my test …

I guess this is the software people are using to subtitle pirated DVD’s out here and it may well be the reason some Thais have the most appalling grammar.

Ha, brilliant.

I remember trying IBM’s ViaVoice about ten years ago and being bitterly disappointed. I’d have assumed that things would have improved since then, but apparently not!
