Yet Another Shopping Centre December 30, 2005
Posted by Martin in : Thailand , trackbackBangkok seems to be developing expensive condominiums and shopping centres faster than they can promote them right now. Tik and I did some of our Christmas shopping at the new Siam Paragon Centre in Siam Square.
A major attraction there, which I did find impressive was the Siam Ocean World Aquarium which I presume holds a number of world records for its size and capacity. The entire underground complex houses sharks, rays and all manner sea-celebrities. In February it will even be open for diving experiences.
Most impressive were the huge stingrays which seem to fly like eagles under the water, but Tik and I were also very fond of the two seals resident there too. The larger one I’d describe as a sea-potato, in grace, poise and appearance. The baby seal looked quite the opposite and enjoyed showing off by spinning itself around in the water. Shows were hosted frequently and we observed the feeding of the sharks whilst we were there.
For 450 baht, this is not a cheap experience, but at the end of a hectic day carrying christmas gifts around it was a welcome diversion.
